Empowering the ‘Lakshmi’ of Every Home
In the heart of rural India, a woman is often revered as the “Lakshmi”—the source of prosperity and well-being for her entire family. Yet, when it comes to her own health, specifically menstrual hygiene, she often suffers in a silence born of shame and outdated cultural taboos. Project Arogya Lakshmi is our dedicated initiative to break these barriers and bring health and dignity back to every courtyard (Aangan).
The Silent Crisis in Our Villages
In many Indian villages, menstruation is still shrouded in secrecy. Due to a lack of awareness and financial constraints, many women and young girls are forced to use unhygienic alternatives like old rags, ash, or sand. These practices lead to severe reproductive tract infections (RTIs) and long-term health complications. Furthermore, the lack of proper sanitary products often results in young girls dropping out of school, cutting their dreams short before they even begin.
Our Impact Strategy: Awareness & Support
Project Arogya Lakshmi operates on a simple yet powerful two-fold mission:
- Chetna (Awareness): We organize community workshops led by female health experts. We discuss the biology of menstruation openly, debunking myths and teaching proper hygiene practices to women and adolescent girls.
- Seva (Distribution): We ensure a consistent supply of high-quality, safe sanitary pads to those who cannot afford them. By making these essentials accessible, we remove the “shame” and replace it with a sense of security.
Why Your Support Matters
When you support Project Arogya Lakshmi, you aren’t just donating a product; you are investing in a woman’s future. A healthy woman can work, a healthy girl can stay in school, and a healthy mother can care for her family. We believe that menstrual hygiene is not a luxury—it is a fundamental human right.
Take Action Today
